The Most Serene Republic of San Marino is the world's second smallest country and as the crest portrays, comprises of three towers,

It managed to avoid being incorporated into Italy by giving shelter to Garibaldi when he was being pursued by anti-unification forces, then when Garibaldi became top chap, San Marino asked to remain separate.
Do not forget that San Marino is named after Saint Marinus who lived in a cave off the rock where the city is now.
