I know that some do not like the Advent Wreath, but I'm quite fond of it.
It was blessed before Mass and is lit before Mass, so a nice para-liturgy (in cope of course).
You can see the robin in pride of place (for the importance of robins see here and here) and I put in just a touch of tinsel this year. Not enough to make it gaudy but just enough to stop it looking like the recreation of a Victorian Christmas Card scene.
Our chapel is quite dark at the best of times so it does shine out in the gloom. And as it is freezing in there, it also gives off a deceptive glow of warmth.
